Over the last few years the subject of fire safety within high rise blocks nationwide has become a major talking point with many local councils, housing associations and other landlords coming under scrutiny for outdated and poor quality fire doors contained within their respective housing stocks.

As a result the Redheugh and Eslington Court tower blocks which are a familiar sight on the Gateshead skyline, were both involved in a £5m Decent Homes refurbishment project.

The two 22-storey tower blocks have had replacement Communal Fire Doors & Combination Screens supplied by Sentry Doors which include units offering both 30 and 60 minute fire ratings, these play a crucial part in not only containing but reducing the spread of fire within common areas greatly increasing the chance of escape in the event of a fire.
